Sleeper
Ron Stephens' Sleeper is a 4 piece rock & roll band playing Ron's original songs and well known classic covers by groups like Little Feat, ZZ Top, The Beatles & John Fogerty. Each member of Sleeper has 50+ years experience writing, recording and performing. Ron Stephens has been at the core of several top local bands. Hank Rasco & The Wasted Rangers packedclubs from Seattle to Eugene, The Dalles to Seaside, in the late 1970s. Helping launch Johnny & The Distractions was his next project as guitarist and producer of the first record. It was as a founding Distraction that Ron was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2011. After the Distractions he launched the first iteration of Sleeper by joining forces with The Hurrman Burrman Band for recording and a world tour in 1980. Puzzle was his next project, producing a remake of The Left Banke's Walk Away Renee' which reached #180 on Billboard's hot 200. In the mid 1980's Ron took a break from playing full time, but he never stopped writing/playing/recording, most notably with singer Jack McMahon with whom he produced 2 excellent CDs.
In early 2000 Ron's band ClamGun recorded a live CD at Big Bad John's Greasy Roots Roundup at Portland's historic White Eagle Saloon. In 2013 he released his first solo CD, Now Look What You Made Me Do, and played extensively as Freak Flag Fly for the next 2 years. In 2023 he released a collection of unfinished
demos called Light Of Day. This is when he decided to reform Sleeper, inviting some of the best friends and players he had worked with over the years to join him.
