Sean Holmes
Sean grew up in San Francisco and the Los Angeles area in a family of working musicians - Mom, Dad, Uncle, Grandfather, Cousins. Sean had some of his first recording sessions with his Mom at Hollywood Sound Studio in LA, AND at the Jackson′s home studio in Encino, CA. Sean arrived in Portland in the autumn of 1986 with a basketball scholarship at Concordia College. He soon traded in his hoop shoes for a choir robe, studied voice, and began working with local musicians.
Sean has an extensive list of credits and has performed with Janice Scroggins, Linda Hornbuckle, LaRhonda Steel, Portland Jazz Orchestra, David Byrne and The Oregon Symphony, Darrell Grant, Esperanza Spalding, Obo Addy, Brian Blade, Devin Phillips, Randy Porter, Mel Brown, Nancy King, Thara Memory, Tahira Memory, Louis Pain, Eddie Martinez, Liv Warfield, Shirley Nanette, Portland Soul All Stars, The Sean + Fred Show, 5 Guys Named Moe, Bobby Torres, Curtis Salgado, Jarrod Lawson, Taj Mahal, Steve Miller, David Pack among many others.
Sean has appeared at the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival, Cathedral Park Jazz Festival, Rose Festival, The Bite, Waterfront Blues Festival. Sean has recorded with Curtis Salgado, Bobby Torres, Gino Vannelli, Randy Porter, and Patrick Lamb and Nu Shooz among others. Sean currently leads his own band and performs with The 4 Kings, The Mel Brown B3 Organ Group, Christopher Woitach, Chance Hayden and others.
