When LDW, the west coast's premiere purveyors of Talking Heads music, and Garcia Birthday Band, the PNW's definitive tenders of the Grateful Dead experience first decided to join forces as Talking Dead, the vision was to leave bodies in a sweaty heap on the dancefloor. The cracked floorboards of Portland's ballrooms are proof of that vision's success.

Each Talking Dead performance is a unique marathon event. With seamless full-band transitions and no set-breaks, these are not dance parties for the lighthearted. Byrne compositions bleed into Garcia cuts, and then the two melt back together in a harmony of post-punk and psychedelia. Be prepared for song couplings you never could have imagined, groove mutations of fantasy mix-tapes, and an outright celebration of two of the greatest song catalogues in history uniting in joyous triumph. Don't worry - your feet will know just what to do!

LDW (Talking Heads tribute)

For LDW, every performance must have high energy, and it's that mantra that has the band in the studio finishing up their first album, Movement is Chemistry. With electric, funky dance grooves featuring improvisations, choreography, amazing harmonies and high-level musicianship, being at an LDW show means you are going to get your dance on. Songs from their studio album, Movement is Chemistry, are being released this fall and the band will be touring premiere venues, along with throwing some Phish after party shows.

Using the Dead's repertoire as a springboard for limitless potential and improvisation, Garcia Birthday Band are a cornerstone of the modern Grateful Dead universe, and their fans have come to expect the unexpected as the norm.

Placing no boundaries on eras of the Dead's career or catalogue, and drawing on decades of individual and shared experience, GBB play the music through an auditory kaleidoscope.
