Mungo

Mungo

Meet Mungo, a true artistic chameleon whose creativity knows no bounds. With a passion for dance, a talent for art and design, and a knack for making music, Mungo is a versatile artist who defies categorization. He is a true polymath, and he proudly describes himself as protean, constantly shape-shifting his creative expression to explore new horizons.

Growing up listening to the likes of Oliver Mtukudzi, Nina Simone, Bob Marley and Hugh Masekela, Mungo taps into a unique sound and in the words of a fan, a "Heart-Chakra-opening" positive vibe that is universally enjoyed by audiences. Mungo's music embraces R&B, afrobeat, and a soulful vulnerability, turning upside down his own truths to uncover feelings we all share as people. And to Mungo, the South African dance music genre Amapiano (synths, wide basslines, and soulful piano) sounds like home. The single and music video WISH YOU'D SEE-a project Mungo shot with Director Dir Ubwino and dancer friends in Malawi-created intercontinental buzz when it racked up 10,000 views on YouTube in its first week after being released. The lead single was the prelude to his recent body of work, "WISHES", a four-track EP exploring the concept of hopes and dreams. Mungo brings uncommon showmanship and attention to detail to his craft and embodies art in all its forms-from designing and sewing the clothes he performs in onstage (and oftentimes those of his band) to creating choreography to the music he writes and produces. A versatile and evolving artist, Mungo is eager to get on the road, bringing his soulful, stylishly costumed and choreographed performances to new audiences throughout the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

Mungo and his team are now working on an EP, which will be a precursor to his full length album coming out next year. The EP, Aftermath will have an attached 'Aftermath' tour. The Aftermath Tour builds on Mungo's recent success, including standout performances at Treefort Music Fest and collaborations with notable acts such as Jalen Ngonda, Monophonics, The Seshen, Shaina Shepard, and BabyJake. Earlier this year, Mungo released the singles "TAKE ME WHERE YOU AT" and "Love Me Right," following the success of his most recent EP, WISHES. The upcoming Aftermath EP delves into the whirlwind emotions of relationships, reflecting on Mungo's personal experiences of heartbreak and recovery.
