About The Beehees
The Beehees is a band based in Olympia, Washington, known for their unique sound that blends Moroccan Gnawa rhythms with elements of blues, psychedelic/garage rock, and trance jazz.
Comprised of musicians from Olympia and Morocco, the five-piece ensemble is led by multi-instrumentalist Brahim Hikmi. Brahim contributes his Moroccan-inspired vocals and hypnotic riffs on the guembri-a traditional three-stringed Moroccan bass known for its rich timbre and distinctive character. Through the fusion of guembri, organ/piano, harmonica, flute, saxophone, guitar, and drums, the Beehees create a captivating musical experience that evokes a desert trance-like dance atmosphere.
The Beehees project symbolizes a crossroad where American Northwest music meets Moroccan desert blues in a harmonious musical journey.
