Why is Lewis County nicknamed the "Mother of All Counties"? Sandra Crowell, author of The Land Called Lewis, answers this and more, as she shares historical moments in Lewis County and the Pacific Northwest, from the first Native people, the establishment of the first European settlement in Washington, the passage of the railroad, the logging boom, the clash of labor and veterans, and the changing face of the county today.
Sandra Crowell is the author of The Land Called Lewis and The Ravaged Forest: A Native Woman's Journey to Justice-the narrative biography of Helen (Mitchell) Sanders who spearheaded a landmark US Supreme Court case that changed Native resource management. Sandra is editor and co-author of two other books on Washington and Idaho history.

These events are open to everyone interested in Pacific Northwest history, and beyond! Often co-sponsored by local or state historical and civic organizations, we bring you experts, scholars, first-person experiencers, historians and documentaries expounding on topics from indigenous history to the birth of Portland, early explorers to hop growing, and on and on! It's like being back in the classroom - except this time you get to settle into comfortable seats and enjoy a drink or two with dinner while you listen and learn.
