About Mosaique
At first glance, we are a piano trio with a vocalist, which implies a jazz context. It is true that
what we do is from the jazz tradition, but we stray quite a bit from jazz in our song choices. It is
always a challenge to describe a band based on a genre. I have heard some people describe us as
a jazz group, but we think that is painting with a very broad brush. This is a band trying to do
justice to great songs that we love, and these songs come from the jazz, modern popular music,
French, and whatever else tweaks our interest. By choice, we try to orchestrate for a piano-bassdrum
framework. That means that if we play “Kiss” by Prince, it’s still piano-bass-drum but
embracing the core of that song regardless of instrumentation. We interpret Gershwin, Diana
Krall, Holly Cole, Sting, Jamie Collum, Herbie Hancock, Chich Corea, Hoagy Carmichael,
Beatles, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Rihanna, the Motown songbook, Bill Withers, and on and on.
In our 20-year span we’ve tried a lot and learned a lot.
Come join us for a fun night of great songs.
