About Madman Across the Water
Madman Across The Water - The Music of Elton John" is a new project from Seattle*based artist Andrew Vait (SISTERS, The Little Lies).
The project will build on the energy and momentum of Vait's Fleetwood Mac tribute, The Little Lies, and, faithful to the mythos of Elton John, the show promises to be bigger and better in virtually every way.
Vait carefully chose the words to describe the project, emphasizing that the focus will be on interpreting and upholding the unrivaled craftsmanship in songwriting and stage performance that threads through Elton John's legacy.
"Madman Across The Water" will honor the music of Elton John and is dedicated to the memory of Vait's mother, who died in September of 2022 after a battle with cancer. Vait recalls listening to Elton John with his mom: "We would listen together and she would sing along while I learned the words." The music instilled in Vait a deep sense of empathy and softness that has profoundly influenced his career as a
performer and recording artist.
Vait describes a dream he had as a child, shortly after beginning piano lessons, where he could move his hands across the keyboard and the sounds of Elton John would come gliding out. "It was as simple as flying", Vait muses. In a sense, this project is a dream come true for Vait.
If you know and love the music of Elton John, you don't want to miss Madman Across The Water.
