About Brothers From Different Mothers
Brothers From Different Mothers deliver good vibes and danceable rhythms with their soulful, bluesy, rock and roll.
Guitarists Tim Hunter and Ian Weintraub had spent years as mutual admirers of each other's work when, in the summer of 2024, the opportunity presented itself for them to join forces to explore songwriting and music making together Both veterans of the PNW music scene for over 30 years, each came from a somewhat different stylistic approach but what they found in each other was a camaraderie in their shared love of guitar and appreciation for the great blues-inspired rock and soul of the late 1960's and 70's. Quickly enlisting the exceptional talents of their long-time friends/musical collaborators Steven Bentley on the drums and Don Morris on the bass and vocals, Brothers From Different Mothers was born.
Supporting Hunter's soulful vocals with three-part harmonies and tight arrangements, performances showcase their own original music, along with well loved classics from artists like The Allman Brothers Band, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, Bob Dylan, Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, The Band, Frank Zappa, Taj Mahal and many more.
The band has quickly found a small but loyal following in Olympia as they've gigged continually and audiences have become captivated by the often spontaneous interaction of the two guitarists. When reflecting on their musical collaboration, Weintraub is reminded of a quote by Jerry Garcia, commenting on his collaboration with bluegrass legend David Grisman, "We fire each other up in a way that I think is very interesting-and it's interesting for the audience."
Come on out for this can't-sit-still, dance inducing night with Brothers From Different Mothers.
