The Portland jazz scene is world class and deserves your attention. This series supports creativity and exploration in music. "Notes From The Underground" focuses on music with improvisational aspects, typically classified as jazz, but with influences spanning the entire musical spectrum. At set breaks, enjoy classic jazz films projected on the big screen. Please join us once a month for a unique night of music that will blow your mind without breaking your wallet!

THE ANDREW OLIVER SEXTET
The Andrew Oliver Sextet performs original compositions by its members which draw on jazz, world music, rock, and other influences. The sextet's music is fresh and relevant in a time when access to all genres of music is at an all-time high.
The band has been playing together for nearly three years, and the close musical relationships among the band members are evident in their performances and recordings. During this time, they have developed a unique ensemble sound and a challenging and diverse book which holds the interest of its audiences.
The group has performed at Portland's finest jazz venues including the Blue Monk, Jimmy Mak's, and the Cave. The Portland-based sextet's debut album "Otis Stomp" is now available from Diatic Records, and has been selected as a pick of 2008 in the Oregonian newspaper.
