About Lincoln Crockett w/Jim McKeon
After spending three years establishing the genre-bending prowess of the Pacific Northwest's highest profile progressive bluegrass group, Cross-Eyed Rosie, Lincoln Crockett is making a name for himself as a solo performer.
Progressive, earthy, grungy, acoustic prog-rock, new-grass, smart pop-folk, ass-kicking acoustic new age... they don't get at it. With the social consciousness of Michael Franti, the clean honesty of James Taylor, the backward longing of Gillian Welch and grooves that are simultaneously upbeat and behind the beat, Crockett is the real deal -- his sound is unmistakable.
This skilled singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (guitar and mandolin) offers songs that are pungent delicacies, infectious works that begin gently, build, peak and suddenly segue into acoustic-electronica and swoony moments of atmospheric beauty. His set of almost entirely original music -- lyrical tunes and captivating instrumentals -- is not to be missed.
"Crockett's lazy-day vocal charm and simple guitar melodies remind one a bit of John Mayer--if Mayer spent time on a kibbutz with Devendra Banhart. Which, come to think of it, ain't that bad of an idea." - The Willamette Week
