About Kathryn Claire

Content

Kathryn Claire is a performing, recording and visual artist based in Portland, OR. She began composing her own music when she was a child. She wrote her first instrumental piece at the age of seven. It was called The Three Sisters' Suite. She studied classical violin and voice and performed regularly as a child. At the age of sixteen, she taught herself the guitar and began writing her own songs.

She has recorded and produced 3 solo albums. Her first is self titled, Kathryn Claire and was recorded in Eugene, OR. She went on to make Wanderer in 2005. Her most recent album, Homespun is a collection of original and traditional songs which was released in 2007.

Kathryn Claire is also an active part of the Celtic music community in the Northwest and has been singing and playing fiddle in bands for almost seven years. She loves to share her violin and enjoys playing with a variety of musicians and songwriters in the Portland area. She currently plays with Circled by Hounds and State and Standard.

Kathryn Claire has been teaching in the Portland area for the past two years and has acquired a devoted following of students, parents, friends and fans. In 2009 she released her first family music album, Kinderqueen. It was her students that ultimately inspired her to make Kinderqueen and she has had a great success sharing her music and song-writing classes with children all over Oregon.

Whether in a large concert hall, a small intimate coffee house, a school cafeteria or a library, a living room or a city park, Kathryn Claire is happy to share her music with her audience. Her charismatic stage presence, innate love of community and creativity and skill as a musician, performer, and teacher make her live shows a unique and exciting experience.
