Is it possible to eat healthy on a Food Stamp budget? Join us for a screening of the hour-long documentary Food Stamped, an informative, entertaining and inspiring film about the challenges to low-income families and individuals trying to eat healthy while living on food stamps.

Congressman Earl BlumenauerCongressman Earl Blumenauer, a leading advocate of shifting farm subsidies away from agribusiness to the small farmer, is our guest speaker. He will discuss one of the most important pieces of legislation to counter hunger that very few Americans know anything about: The Farm Bill.

There will also be a brief video presentation about Southeast Portland’s Abernathy Elementary: “Planting Seeds of Change, Growing Healthy Kids.”

Food Stamped is an informative and humorous documentary film following a couple as they attempt to eat a healthy, well-balanced diet on a food stamp budget. Through their adventures they consult with members of U.S. Congress, food justice organizations, nutrition experts, and people living on food stamps to take a deep look at America’s broken food system.
