Yay! Big ups to one of the stars of our Great Northwest Music Tour : Sallie Ford and the Sound Outside just won Best New Band in Willamette Week's 2010 Insiders Music Poll.
Many Portlanders got their first glimpse of Sallie Ford and The Sound Outside in May of 2009, when she opened both nights of the Avett Brothers double-header at the Crystal Ballroom. Since then we've been excited to get her on our Great Northwest Music Tour, so the rest of you can see what you missed!
Since Sallie Ford et. al are our May GNWMT featured group, the timing couldn't be better. The group has been blowing audiences away with its unique blend of sultry jazz vocals bespeckled with pop, punk and folk. It's a sound with one foot in the past and one in the future, devoid of pretense but full of soul.
The band's momentum keeps building, so catch them at any one of their stops at our different McMenamins properties before they become superstars!
