Ales on Tap

Enjoy a pint of McMenamins' finest!
Beer available to go at all McMenamins locations.

Terminator Stout
Black as the darkest night. Rich as the most decadent dessert, Terminator is for the true stout lover. This is a full bodied and flavor packed ale which draws it's robust complexity from kiln-baked specialty grains. Look for a wide array of toasted, chocolate, nutty and coffee-like flavors in every pint! The devoted swear by it, and it remains one of our top selling ales year after year.

Hammerhead
A classic Northwest pale ale and McMenamins top selling beer. This rich chestnut colored gem is a model of harmony between hops and malted barley. Hammerhead's signature Cascade hop nose and intense hopped flavor blend nicely with the caramel tones from the crystal malt. This beer has a vocal following. To run out is an unforgivable sin.

Ruby
One of our most popular standards, we still make Ruby with the same aims we had when brewing the first batch back in March 1986:  To create an ale light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Great Western Premium 2-row and 42 pounds of Oregon-grown and processed raspberry puree is used to craft every colorful batch. Simple but delicious.  Taste the original!

Crystal IPA
In the 1790s, English sailors needed an ale that could withstand the long sea voyage to the colonies in Asia. Knowing that alcohol and hops are natural preservatives, English brewers developed strong, highly hopped ales known as 'India Pale Ales'. The Crystal IPA has a deep golden color and distinct yet subtle citrus flavors that satisfy both the diehard IPA drinker and those who prefer a lighter palate.  A balanced, medium-bodied IPA, which will satisfy die hard hop heads and traditional IPA fans alike.

McMenamin’s Irish Stout (Nitro)
McMenamin’s Irish Stout is made as traditionally as possible with our own little twist. It is a very dark, ebony-colored stout with a thick, creamy and long-lasting head. The flavor is a fantastic fusion of coffee-like roasted barley bitterness and semi-sweet chocolate.  Moderate hop bitterness balances pleasingly with this hearty back¬bone, while tiny nitrogen bubbles enhance the sensation on your taste buds with a smooth, silky creaminess. One sip will have your head in the Emerald Isle clouds. A touch of the Irish, the blessings of St. Patrick and a pint of McMenamins Irish Stout to you!

Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown
Sleepy Hollow Nut Brown’s chestnut color and medium body will cast an otherworldly spell over you.  The complex malt character, well balanced with Chinook and US Golding hops, will have you walking in a continual reverie.  Legend has it that Ichabod Crane downed a few Nut Brown Ales listening to local ghost tales and scary legends at the Van Tassel merry-making party before his fateful trip home.  Be watchful and clear-headed on your way home lest you begin to grow fanciful, see shapes and shadows in the night and hear things in the howling wind.  It may just be your imagination running away with you or it very well may be the Headless Horseman on his fire-breathing black stallion following you!

Portland Blue Ribbon
Portland Blue Ribbon is a crystal clear American Lager.  A pale straw color and pillowy white head, this is a user friendly lager.  A subtle sweet bready malt flavor is slowly consumed by a delicate, hop spiciness.  A true Lager slowly fermented at cool temperatures and then allowed a lengthy period of cold maturation, in order to attain a crisp refreshing beverage.  This is a light domestic style lager, to please the beer drinker who requires a refreshing reprieve from the plethora of malty ales that abound during the cold winter months.

Weizecracker Wheat
An American style wheat beer, that pours a straw color with a creamyoff-white  head.  A light, refreshing ale with a subtle breadiness and crisp floral finish.  With a lemon wedge or all on its own this beer is a delicious refreshing ale that balances the spicy wheat flavor with a delicate kiss of hops.

Le Fruit Defendu
Le Fruit Defendu, The Forbidden Fruit, was brewed for the 2012 6th Annual Portland Cheers to Belgian Beers, scheduled for April 21st.  A Belgian-style Blonde ale, with added spices and natural apple flavor.  This beer pours a pale straw color with a fluffy white head and effervescent aromas of spice and apple cider.  A crisp refreshing ale with a tinge of spice laced sweetness and a smooth dry finish.  A perfect companion for your spring gardening, and to sustain you through the upcoming bbq season.

Obama-Nation (Domestic Schwarzbier)
Tired of the same old over-hopped beers of the Pacific Northwest?  Change has arrived!  Obama-Nation is a crisp refreshing dark lager that is full-flavored but won’t weigh you down during the your bouts of spring cleaning.  A deep dark appearance with amber hues and a creamy tan head supported by a pleasant bittersweet chocolate aroma with hints of fresh-baked bread, imbibes one to sip.  Although, don’t expect all your troubles to be washed away with the first sip, after all, there are eight years of damage to undo and Rome wasn’t built in a day.  A perfect union of flavor and quaffability, subtle bready malt flavors commingle with robust chocolate delight to delicately dance upon your palate.  So step out of your comfort zone and join the movement to bring art and tradition back to the world of brewing.

Obamanator Doppelbock
To commemorate the upcoming election season we have created a delicious complex beer to break the gridlock of the most conservative palates.  Doppelbock literally translating to “double bock” signifying the second term necessary for our beloved President to enact the “change” his election mandated.  Obamanator is here to bring to the forefront the rich diversity of flavor brought to you by 99% of the ingredients required to put this great beer on the map.  A beautiful dark brown lager, with reddish hues capped by a creamy tan head, abounds with lush aromas of sweet dried figs.  With the first sip your mouth is occupied by a creamy, malt sweetness, soon developing into a fruit movement of undeniable proportions.  A robust full flavored lager with a crisp finish and lingering warm fruit flavors that no bipartisan beer connoisseur could protest.  So stand with the masses and recognize the leadership qualities this beer has to transform you into a follower.
